Financial Aid

How to apply for financial aid

Staff members in Reed's financial aid office are here to help you complete the process of applying for financial aid with as little confusion and stress as possible.

Please contact us if you have any questions or problems along the way.

Step one

Indicate on your Application for Admission that you intend to apply for financial aid.

Step two

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for school year 2018–19 to determine your eligibility for federal student aid (Pell grants, Direct Loans, Federal Work Study, etc.). List Reed's school code: 003217. The 2018–19 FAFSA is available beginning October 1, 2017.

Step three

Complete the College Board/College Scholarship Service's (CSS) Financial Aid PROFILE application for the 2018–19 school year. The CSS PROFILE is used to determine your eligibility for Reed's institutional funding. When you complete the PROFILE, list Reed College's code: 4654. If your biological parents are not married to each other, each parent will need to complete a separate PROFILE. The 2018–19 PROFILE is available beginning October 1, 2017.

Step four

After completing the CSS PROFILE application, you will receive an email from College Board's IDOC service. Follow the directions in the email to upload certain 2016 tax documents to their secure site.
