Reed Grant

The largest source of aid comes directly from Reed College. During the 2021-22 year, students received over $38 million in Reed grants and scholarships. These grants are based solely on demonstrated family need.

Federal Pell Grant

Offered by the U.S. Department of Education, Federal Pell Grants are provided to students who display exceptional financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The maximum Federal Pell Grant award for the 2023-2024 academic year is $7395.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

FSEOG funding comes from both the U.S. Department of Education and Reed. FSEOG is also awarded to students who display exceptional financial need. Award amounts typically range from $1500 to $2000.

Oregon Opportunity Grant

The Oregon Opportunity Grant is a need-based grant for Oregon residents attending an Oregon school. Eligibility is determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Awards for the 2022-2023 academic year range from $3000 to $7524.

Oregon Tribal Student Grant

The Oregon Tribal Student Grant was established for the 2022-2023 academic year to offset the cost of attendance and provide grants to eligible students that are enrolled members of one of the nine federally recognized Oregon tribes. Award amounts vary depending on cost of attendance and other grants and scholarships. Eligible students can find additional information and the steps to apply by visiting the Office of Student Access and Completion – Oregon Tribal Student Grant website.

Music Lesson Assistance Grant

To qualify for grant consideration, you must be receiving need-based financial aid and have accepted all parts of the award (including student employment and loans). This ensures that grant dollars are most equitably distributed.

  • You must take the course for credit.

  • Financial assistance is limited to one music lesson (one voice or one instrumental lesson) per semester.

  • You must reapply each academic year, but you can request assistance for both semesters using one application.
