Professor Kate Ming T’ien Duffly has received a $5,000 Periclean Faculty Leader Course Grant from Project Pericles to develop a course exploring protest as a form of performance.

The course, Taking It to the Streets: Processions, Puppets and Protest Performance, will combine hands-on puppet-building with the collaborative creation of street performances alongside community partners. Students will explore how art and performance can serve as tools for civic expression and collective action.

Duffly is among 10 faculty members at colleges and universities nationwide to receive course grants through the Periclean Grants Program, which supports teaching that connects academic learning with civic engagement and community partnerships.
