May 21, 2025 - Simons Foundation selects Kyle Ormsby as Open Interval Symmetry awardee

The Simons Foundation’s Science, Society & Culture division has selected fifteen teams of scientists, artists, and organizers to participate in this year's Open Interval program, centered around the theme 'symmetry', including Reed Mathematics & Statistics chair Kyle Ormsby. Ormsby will collaborate with local artist Meech Boakye and Portland Institute of Contemporary Art artistic director and curator of visual art Kristan Kennedy on an open-ended exploration of how mathematics and art can inform each other.
