Introduction to Environmental Studies Research Methods: ES200
Taken during your first or second year, Introduction to Environmental Studies Research Methods (ES200) is designed to provide an introduction to research methods and design, including widely used techniques in natural and social sciences. You’ll learn hands-on skills such as spatial analysis, statistical modeling, document coding, case study, and archival research. In collaboration with faculty and your peers, you will practice field study design and oral and visual data presentation.
Junior Seminar: ES300
During junior year, you will take the Environmental Studies Junior Seminar, a collaborative course led by two faculty members—one from the natural sciences and one from the social sciences. In this project-based class, you’ll work cooperatively with your peers to find a solution to an environmental problem related to climate change. Successful completion of this seminar serves as the junior qualifying exam in the environmental studies major. You will also take the junior qualifying exam in your home department, which is the department of your concentration.
