Bernard Osher Foundation Reentry Scholarship Program

Reed has received a grant of $1,050,000 from the Bernard Osher Foundation. The grant has been made to support the Osher Reentry Scholarships at Reed. The Osher Foundation made grants to Reed of $50,000 in 2006-07 and $50,000 in 2007-08 to replace loans for talented students between the ages of 25 and 50 who demonstrate financial need, have experienced a cumulative gap in their education of five or more years, are pursuing their first bachelor's degree, and anticipate working for a significant period of time after graduation. The new grant from the Osher Foundation provides $50,000 to fund reentry scholarships during 2008-09 and $1,000,000 to permanently endow them. The grant will help Reed reduce the amount of debt these students must undertake for the degree.

The Office of Institutional Research will assess the scholarship's impact on the Osher Foundation Reentry Scholarship recipients.
