Peer mentor program
The Peer Mentor Program was created to help welcome incoming first generation students, students from racially diverse backgrounds, and students who have an interest in addressing the range of issues that encompass multicultural life. Started in 2001 by student Patty Hsue ’02 and a small group of staff members, the program has grown steadily each year. The Peer Mentor Program seeks to provide opportunities for students who desire to engage in conversations about the complexities of identity as they impact their educational experience at Reed and beyond. Through matching incoming students with mentors, the hope is that new students will have a reference point for understanding the complexities of either being a student from an underrepresented racial/ethnic community. If you wish to become involved as a mentor or mentee, please send email to peer@reed.edu or contact the Program Coordinator for Multicultural Affairs, extension 7518 (503/777-7518).
