Spring Symposium

Tuesdays, February 6th through March 5th, 4:30 - 6 PM

Spring Symposium offers students at Reed the opportunity to join a small community focused on enhancing academic skills and savvy in order to get the most from a Reed education. Students in the program will learn strategies for improved academic performance and build relationships within Reed’s intellectual community. The program will especially benefit Freshmen and Sophomore students.

Details

  • Workshops will take place every Tuesday evening, starting February 6th and ending March 5th, 4:30 - 6:00 PM.
  • A catered dinner is served on the first night to kick off the program!
  • Meal vouchers will be provided to participants for all sessions after the first week. Feel free to bring your food in or save the voucher for afterward.
  • The skills and savvy you develop in the workshops will help you to be more effective and efficient in your coursework. The time you invest in Spring Symposium will be repaid in increased effectiveness in meeting your immediate academic goals.

    • Feb. 6: Managing motivation & expectations @ Parker House with the Academic Support staff
    • Feb. 13: Building Library & research skills @ Library lobby with Director of Research Services Angie Beiriger
    • Feb. 20: Building math & science skills @ GCC-Dwith faculty Nicole James
    • Feb. 27: Building conference participation skills @ GCC-A with faculty Meg Scharle
    • Mar. 5: Balancing stress & productivity @ GCC-A with Reed Counselor Sarah Fleischauer
