Explore Academic Spaces

spaces of curiosity, collaboration, and transformative learning

Meet the Moment: Together, with Reed envisions the future of Reed’s academic spaces for the multidisciplinary sciences and the arts, supporting the evolving ways students and faculty learn, create, and collaborate.

Reed’s commitment to fearless inquiry has always been reflected not only in its people, but in the spaces that make deep learning possible. As the college considers how best to support evolving modes of research, knowledge creation, and collaboration, two areas of ongoing exploration have emerged: enhanced spaces for multidisciplinary sciences and renewed environments for studio arts.

These ideas represent a thoughtful inquiry into what Reed might one day need to continue empowering students to ask bold questions and pursue complex, boundary-crossing work. Here, we invite the community to imagine with us—curiously, responsibly, and creatively—as Reed explores how academic spaces can evolve in service of its mission.

Studio Arts

As creative practice expands to include new media, technologies, and multidisciplinary approaches, Reed is reflecting on how studio environments might evolve to support emerging art forms.

Explore Studio Arts

I loved being able to do both biology labs and studio art. Some of my favorite class activities were tree climbing, growing cultures, learning how to make ceramics, and photography.
