I'm an Experimental Physical Chemist by training, with a focus on mass spectrometry, vibrational spectroscopy, and instrumentation. My interests in chemical research are broad. Mostly, I like solving problems by developing new instruments and techniques. Both these factors naturally mean that my research is extremely interdisciplinary. Prior to Reed I completed my Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry at Yale University under Professor Mark A. Johnson, where I used cryogenic ion spectroscopy to study water-mediated proton transfer in gas-phase cluster ions. As an NSF MPS-Ascend Postdoctoral Fellow (2023–2026), I worked in the Dawlaty Lab at the University of Southern California on microdroplet chemistry and photoacid-driven CO₂ capture and release. At Reed, I teach Chem 101 (Molecular Structure and Properties) in the Fall and Chem 333 (Physical Chemistry II) in the Spring. In the future, I will also be teaching the corresponding Physical Chemistry Lab course in the Spring. I enjoy a good cup of coffee, watching TV, reading, writing, and good company.
