I am a Visiting Assistant Professor of Linguistics at Reed College. I completed my PhD research in Linguistics at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I also hold an MA in Linguistics from UIUC and a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from New York University. I am an interdisciplinary sociolinguist, meaning that I am interested in examining the social and societal aspects of language using tools, methods, and insights from a variety of scholarly disciplines. My current research focuses on intersections of language, media, and social identity. I use mixed methods and work across the fields of sociolinguistics, linguistic anthropology, historical linguistics, and pragmatics. My teaching interests include sociolinguistics, historical linguistics, and discourse analysis. You can find my full CV and a list of publications here.
