The Reed College 2007 convocation ceremony took place on Wednesday, August 22, at 4 p.m., in its new location, under the tent on the south lawn. Pancho Savery, professor of English & humanities, delivered the annual Odyssey convocation lecture, and biology department chair Janis Shampay presented the Howard Vollum Award for Distinguished Accomplishment in Science and Technology to Dr. Stanley Fields, Professor of Genome Sciences, Professor of Medicine, and Adjunct Professor of Microbiology at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle; and Investigator, Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
