Nicole James awarded a $340,000 grant from the NSF

Nicole James, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, has been awarded her first grant for her project titled, "Identifying the Foundational Concepts and Skills of Materials Chemistry."

This award, in excess of $340,000, was granted by the "Building Capacity in Science Education Research" program within the National Science Foundation's division of chemical education.  Nicole- and her thesis students- seek to advance understanding of what concepts and skills are used in materials chemistry research through a national survey of post-doctoral researchers. The results of these surveys will help educators develop strategies and content aimed at improving students' understanding of materials chemistry.

Congratulations, Nicole!
