Psychology 136
This event is open only to current Reed students, faculty, and staff.
Join the Department for a discussion (and pizza!) with a focus on this TED talk:
Your Body Language
Shapes Who You Are
We’ll start by viewing Dr. Cuddy’s TED talk, then move to a discussion of the talk and the issues Dr. Cuddy raises. A brief summary of her talk:
Body language affects how others see us, but it may also change how we see ourselves. Social psychologist Amy Cuddy shows how “power posing” — standing in a posture of confidence, even when we don’t feel confident — can affect testosterone and cortisol levels in the brain, and might even have an impact on our chances for success.
