An Invitation to the Annual HSS/CAT meeting with majors

The Division of History and Social Sciences cordially invites students majoring in HSS Departments, Linguistics and International and Comparative Policy Studies to attend the annual fall meeting on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at 4:30 p.m. in Eliot 103.  A member of the Committee on Advancement and Tenure will explain College procedures for the evaluation of faculty members, and students’ role in this process.  Letters from students are a very important part of the evaluation of faculty, and we strongly encourage all students to attend the meeting and to take an active role in evaluations.

Immediately following the presentation, Prof. Charlene Makley will discuss the resources CUS offers, including templates, consulting and excellent advice on how to spare yourself computer-related heartache later in the year focusing on three issues:

1. Avoiding catastrophe by keeping good backups.
2. Getting an early and well-informed start on producing a correctly formatted thesis document.
3. How to find additional help during the year.

Prof. Makley will also discuss graduate school applications and protocol for requesting letters of recommendation.

All Reed students are welcome to attend the meeting, socialize and enjoy the appetizing refreshments.
