Peace Corps Info Session

Tuesday, September 24, 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Commons + GCC-D
This event is open only to current Reed students, faculty, and staff.

Peace Corps is a government based volunteer organization that sends volunteers to over 75 countries around the world to live and work in underserved communities for 27 months. Peace Corps Volunteers help translate host country development plans into community level action, thus improving the lives of local people.

There are no out of pocket expenses and all health care services are covered by Peace Corps. During service, volunteers receive a monthly stipend, 24 vacation days a year, student loan deferment or partial cancellation, and intensive language and cultural training. After service, Returned Volunteers have access to graduate school benefits, jobs within the federal government, and $7400 of 're-adjustment' allowance.

All majors are needed. Volunteers work in agriculture, environment, education, health, business, IT and community development. The Peace Corps is a professional and personal life changing experience. If you are looking for more than a 9-5; if you're looking to immerse yourself into another culture and help an underserved community abroad, then, Life is Calling...How Far Will You Go?  www.peacecorps.gov
