Lecture: "Originalist History v. Originalist Jurisprudence: Constitutional Myths and their Political Uses"

Monday, September 23, 4:45 PM
Psychology 105
This event is open to the public.

Ray Raphael '65 will present a lecture derived from his most recent book, Constitutional Myths: What We Get Wrong and How to Get It Right. He argues that the Constitution-of-convenience, which Americans today wave in the air to score political points, differs markedly from the historical one. While this talk addresses Constitutional (mis)interpretation, it focuses also on historical narratives, why we create them and how they distort the past. This lecture is free and open to the public.
