Northwest Undergraduate Mathematics Symposium

 

NUMS was held on April 9, 2011 at Reed College in Portland, Oregon.  There were 25 undergraduate speakers and 76 participants from ten institutions in the Northwest.  A list of the presentations with links to slides appears here: presentations.  Links to the schedule, the program, and abstracts appear further down the page.

Join us at Reed College in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, April 9, 2011 for the third annual Northwest Undergraduate Mathematics Symposium.


The Reed Mathematics Department invites all mathematics students in the Pacific Northwest to present their work at NUMS this spring.   If you have done independent mathematical projects, REUs, or have results from competitions, please sign up to speak.  Talks may be short (10 mins) or long (25 mins), and there will also be a poster session.  First-year graduate students are welcome to present research completed while still undergraduates.  

Invited address: Professor Naiomi Cameron of Lewis and Clark College will give this year's invited address: Combinatorial Enumeration with the Riordan Group.

 

Registration is now closed for speakers.  Other attendees may register on-site but are strongly encouraged to register below.

[Online registration for speakers and attendees begins March 7 and continues until  March 28 April 1 (the deadline was extended).  Speakers must register online.  Other attendees may register in person on the day of the Symposium but are highly encouraged to register online to help us plan for the event.  There is no registration fee, and travel support is available.  A free lunch will be provided to those registering online.]
