Auditions for Julius Caesar

Monday, January 27, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
PAB - Studio Theatre
This event is open only to current Reed students, faculty, and staff.

Auditions for Shakespeare's Julius Caesar will be held on Monday, January 27, from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Studio Theatre.  Callbacks will be Tuesday evening (and Wednesday if needed) at an evening time to be announced.  Auditions are open to all members of the Reed community.  Those interested in auditioning should prepare a brief, memorized Shakespeare monolog or sonnet (14-30 lines). Please do not do a monolog from the play, but feel free to do a monolog that bears some relation to character(s) you are interested in playing.  We will be casting a company, many of whom will play more than one role.  This "rock star Caesar" will live in a world somewhere between rock and Rome in which gender is ambiguous and charismatic self-presentation is crucial.  Rehearsals will begin at the end of the first week of classes and usually will take place in the evenings and some weekends.  Students who are cast may receive .5 units of credit under Theatre 161.  Performances will be the first two weekends of April.  If you have questions, feel free to contact Kathleen Worley, director, at worleyk@reed.edu.
