Hispanic Film Festival: Aquí and Allá

Sundays
September 22, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Psychology 105
This event is open only to current Reed students, faculty, and staff.

The Spanish department is sponsoring a Hispanic film festival featuring current movies from various Latin American countries and Spain. All films are subtitled and will be screened Sundays,  4–6 p.m., in Psychology 105. Please join us to enjoy these contemporary films, learn about political and cultural concerns, and practice your Spanish.

The film for Sunday, September 22, is Aquí and Allá. Winner of the top prize at the Critics’ Week section of the Cannes Film Festival, Antonio Méndez Esparza’s directorial debut captures the complex homecoming of a loving father. In an unexpected take on the traditional immigrant story, Pedro returns home to a small mountain village in Guerrero, Mexico, after years of working in New York.

The Hispanic Film Festival was made possible with the support of Pragda, and the Embassy of Spain in Washington, D.C., Spain-USA Foundation. Special thanks to the Secretary of State for Culture of Spain.
