Why does Japanese have loanwords for words it already has?

video imagePlay video
This is a video discussing about loanwords; why we sometimes see loanwords despite the original language already having a word for it. Sometimes they start to carry different nuances, or in some cases the loanwords are intentionally used to override the impression that original word implies. It uses English-Japanese as an example but also mentions that similar things are seen in other languages too.
