Sociolinguistic Artifacts

This video is a mocking of Gen Z slang. It connects to not only our very first task (writing slang words in the dictionary), but also to our discussion of how language changes. My question is, what makes slang "slang"? Isn't that just the evolution of language? Maybe the exclusion from governmental and professional spheres is what defines slang.
