Poetry slams (Bertsolaritza) are helping reinvigorate the Basque language

The Basque Language Euskara, spoken in areas between France and Spain, has been pushed to the fringes of society over the course of the last century. The recent revival of Bertsolaritza, a Basque tradition of improvised song, has contributed to the increase in popularity of the language, both inside and outside the region.
