Reedies Vote!

  • The U.S. Postal Service also recommends voters mail their ballot at least one week prior to the state deadline. Make sure your vote counts!
  • When does my ballot need to arrive?
    • Ballot must be received on or before Election Day:
      • Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Flordia, Georgia, Hawai'i, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tenessee, Vermont, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
    • Ballot must be postmarked on or before Election Day, but can be received later:
      • Alaska, California, District of Columbia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and West Virginia.

In light of the financial crisis of the USPS, if you are planning to vote by mail this election, be sure to request your ballot well before the deadline to ensure that you get your ballot with enough time to send it back. Doing this early helps ensure that your vote will be counted!

Who Can and Can’t Vote in U.S. Elections

You can vote in the U.S. general election if you:

  • Are a U.S. citizen 
  • Meet your state’s residency requirements 
  • Are 18 years old on or before Election Day 
  • Are registered to vote by your state’s voter registration deadline.
    • North Dakota does not require voter registration.

You can't vote in the U.S. general election if the following apply to you:
