Michael J. Teskey, former
director of alumni relations at Lewis & Clark College, became
Reeds director of alumni relations in October.
The alumni association is pleased to welcome Michael to Reed
and conclude a national search for our director, said John Sheehy
82, president of the alumni association. We look forward
to working with Michael, a proven community builder, in achieving
our goal of engaging Reed alumni with the college today.
Teskey will be responsible for sustaining and strengthening programs
to encourage alumni participation in and understanding of the college.
He will serve as the principal liaison between the college and the
alumni board, and work to build effective activities that promote
communication among alumni and with the college.

As director of alumni relations at
Lewis & Clark, Teskey supported and expanded an array of programs
of interest to alumni. Long interested in building communities, Teskey
worked as a program associate for the National Trust for Historic
Preservation and as vice president of CommunityFirst!, a firm devoted
to revitalizing local communities. Teskey also serves on the planning
committee for the Minary Conference on Alumni Education, a national
gathering of alumni directors that develops strong academically oriented
programs for alumni. A graduate of Lewis & Clark College with
a bachelor of arts in history and German, Teskey pursued further study
in public history at Northeast-ern University in Boston, specializing
in community and corporate histories.
I am thrilled by the prospect of working at Reed and with the
colleges alumni, said Teskey. I have always held
the college in the highest regard, and feel fortunate to have this
opportunity to join the Reed community in working with the alumni
association to promote and strengthen the colleges particular
and rigorous mode of education. |
