Graphic Standards for Design

Because a strong visual identity helps to communicate the college’s distinctiveness, public affairs has developed a set of graphic standards for college publications and web pages.

The Reed College graphic standards help to ensure that the college’s brand is communicated in a consistent manner across multiple platforms and among various college partners. These standards outline Reed’s brand identity and explain the guiding principles for correct use of the college’s graphic tools. It is intended to inform, instruct, and guide as Reed’s aesthetic continues to evolve.

The Reed brand identity is more than a single logo—it is a dynamic system that works in harmony to illustrate the college’s distinctive traditions and values. The words and images we choose to represent Reed are a direct reflection of who we are; therefore, we must approach design with curiosity, authenticity, and integrity.

We have included guidelines for using the college seal, wordmark, griffin, and color (“Reed red”). These markers serve as readily identifiable symbols of Reed, giving a sense of unity to our publications, stationery, web pages, and other forms of communication.
