Latin Forum 2021. (Clockwise) Profs. Sonia Sabnis, Tom Landvatter, Nigel Nicholson, Associate Dean of Graduate and Special Programs Ashley Hudson, and Prof. Ellen Millender
Since 1987, the Reed College Greek, Latin, and Ancient Mediterranean Studies department has sponsored a forum on Rome for high school students and teachers of Latin. Each year, students and teachers from around the Northwest gather on a Saturday to explore a topic related to the culture and literature of the early Romans. Reed faculty members facilitate morning discussion groups on the keynote address and lead afternoon seminars on a related topic.
There is no cost to attend; however, students must be in high school and currently or recently enrolled in a Latin course to participate in the program. Pre-registration is required.
Latin Forum returns to Reed College campus on Saturday, February 4, 2023!
View our seminar topics here and our presenter bios here. Details and the forum's schedule will be shared with registrants.
The Latin Forum is free to Latin students and their teachers and parent guests, and includes lunch. We ask that all registrations be completed by January 30, 2023.
Latin students and teachers may register here.

The multimedia Latin Forum featured video lectures from Reed faculty, synchronous discussions on the afternoons of April 4th and 5th, and an online calligraphy workshop after the discussion on April 5. View the schedule and the video lecture summaries here.
The 33rd annual Latin Forum in March of 2021 was Reed's first multimedia, virtual forum. Read an article from Reed Magazine about it here.
