When You Arrive at Reed

Parents and guardians check in separately from their students. View a map of campus (PDF) to find your way to Kaul Auditorium. If you are driving to campus, please note that the west lot is closest to Kaul.

Humanities 110 for Parents: Explore the Iliad

Attend the kind of humanities lecture and conference your student will experience throughout the year. A Humanities faculty member will speak on The Iliad as part of the convocation ceremony, Wednesday, August 23. On Wednesday afternoon, parents will gather in small groups with professors to discuss the reading material and lecture.

You can sign up to atten Hum 110 for Parents when you arrive for check-in. You may purchase a copy of the Iliad at the Reed bookstore. To guarantee the arrival of your copy on time, orders shipping to domestic addresses should be submitted by August 1. Orders shipping to international addresses should be submitted by July 15.

Plan Ahead: Parent & Family Weekend

Parent & Family Weekend is a chance to attend classes, participate in events, and glimpse everyday life at Reed. Activities begin Friday, November 3, and concludes Sunday afternoon, November 5. Online registration will be available in late August.

Visiting in the Pacific Northwest

If you are arriving early to drop off your student for any of our Odysseys, take time to see what the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Balanced between exhilarating extremes, Reed is just ninety minutes west of Mount Hood and ninety minutes east of the mighty Pacific Ocean. Meanwhile, the high desert, southeast of Reed, enjoys 300 days of sunshine, rugged desertscapes, and snowy mountains. The Portland Oregon Visitors Association can help you find the best places to explore and to plan your trip.
