Short & long term disability insurance
Eligibility begins at one year of service in a regular position of at least half time.
Short Term Disability (For staff): This plan is self insured by Reed. The college pays 60% of salary after all accrued sick leave and vacation leave is used if you are disabled for six months or more. For information on short term disability for faculty, see the faculty handbook.
Long Term Disability: This plan provides a monthly income equal to 60% of basic monthly earnings, not to exceed the maximum monthly benefit of $7,500, beginning after 180 days of disability.
The college pays the full premium for the plan.
