Onboarding your new employee

A new employee’s onboarding plan should extend for one year. During the employee’s first month, you should meet with them to discuss the onboarding plan.

  • Assign a peer mentor
  • Let the new employee know when and where to arrive on first day
  • Every member of your search team should be scheduled to take the new employee to lunch every day for their first week
  • Prepare for your one-on-one meeting with your new employee. For more info, please see the first week checklist
  • Remind your staff to set Google calendar permissions and add new employee to recurring meetings
  • Develop a ‘training’ plan with clear expectations and goals for the new employee to meet by 90 days and then at 6 months.
