Tenure-Track Appointment in German & Humanities

The German Department of Reed College invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in German and Humanities, to begin in the fall of 2018. Area of specialization: any period after 1700. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in film and media studies, comparative literature, or continental philosophy. The appointee will teach a broad range of language, literature, and culture courses; advise senior theses; and participate in the humanities program (http://www.reed.edu/humanities/). Candidates must have native or near-native fluency in German and the Ph.D. in hand or near completion. Above all, we seek to hire someone with a lively program of scholarship and a commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level.

At Reed College, it is a firmly held belief that cultural diversity is essential to the academic program. In your application materials, we welcome a description of how you, as a scholar, teacher, and/or community member, would engage and sustain the commitment to diversity and inclusion articulated in the College’s diversity statement (http://www.reed.edu/diversity/index.html).

Please submit a cover letter, CV, writing sample (20–25 pages), diversity statement, and three letters of recommendation through Interfolio at http://apply.interfolio.com/45254 by November 10, 2017. The Search Committee expects to conduct interviews at the MLA Convention in New York City in January of 2018.

An Equal Opportunity Employer, Reed values diversity and encourages applications from underrepresented groups.
