One-Year Visiting Assistant Professorships in Mathematics

The Reed College Mathematics Department invites applications for two one-year visiting assistant professorships in mathematics (pending administrative approval), to begin Fall 2019. Applicants should have a PhD in mathematics or applied mathematics; they are welcome from all fields of mathematics, but for one of the positions special consideration will be given to applicants with experience in analysis.

We are seeking candidates committed to teaching students from diverse backgrounds, and who have a strong research program that can engage undergraduates. The successful candidate is expected to teach the equivalent of five semester courses over the academic year and to supervise senior theses, a cornerstone of the Reed academic experience.

Applications must be submitted through the MathJobs.org website at https://www.mathjobs.org/jobs/jobs/13401 and should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching statement, research statement, and three letters of recommendation. The cover letter should address how the applicant’s teaching and scholarship are suited to the liberal arts college environment.

Reed College is a community that believes cultural diversity is essential to the excellence of its academic program. In your application materials, please provide a description of how you would engage and sustain the commitment to diversity and inclusion articulated in Reed College’s diversity statement  (http://www.reed.edu/diversity/).

Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled, but they should be received by February 15, 2019 to guarantee full consideration. Any questions may be directed to the chair of the search committee, Kyle Ormsby, at ormsbyk@reed.edu.

Deadline: February 15, 2019 to guarantee full consideration
