The Reed College 2008 convocation ceremony took place on Wednesday, August 27, at 4 p.m., on the south lawn. Gail Berkeley Sherman, professor of English & humanities, delivered the annual Odyssey convocation lecture, and Patrick McDougal, professor of chemistry, presented the Howard Vollum Award for Distinguished Accomplishment in Science and Technology to Dr. B. Kenneth Koe ’45, a retired neuroscientist from Pfizer who played a critical role in the development of the antidepressant Zoloft.
