Embed media from Ensemble onto a Moodle page

To embed media stored Ensemble (example: recorded lectures) in your Moodle page, you have two options: embed a single media item or embed a playlist.

Ensemble playlists can contain one or more media items. Playlists may be useful if you are going to share different media in separate areas of your Moodle or webpage.

Embed a single media item into Moodle

To embed a single media item into your Moodle page, log in to Ensemble at ensemble.reed.edu and locate the media that you wish to embed.

(Note: Before media can be embedded, it must be published. If there is no Embed icon next to your media, you will need to publish the media first.)

Click on the Embed icon located below the media thumbnail.

A new screen should appear (screenshot below). From this screen, you can select options such as including annotations or a transcript with the video.

Once you have selected your options, copy the entire code in the box (highlighted in red in the graphic below), then click Close.

Go to your Moodle course page, and navigate to the area where you want to embed the media. Choose the “Add an activity or resource” link, and choose the Page resource.

In the General sections, add a name for your library. (example: “Video Lectures”)

In the Content section, go to the Page Content area, and click on the Toolbar Toggle button to display more options.

Click on the Edit HTML source button.

This will open a new window. Paste in the embed code that you copied from Ensemble here, then click on the Update button.

Click on the “Save and display” button. The media should now display.

Embedding Ensemble Playlists into Moodle

If you are using the default playlist to link all your videos in one are of your Moodle course, follow the below instructions; if you are creating multiple playlists to display videos in different sections in your Moodle course, read the help page on how to create Ensemble playlists.

To use the default Ensemble playlist, which is a collection of one or more media files from your library, first click on Playlists in the Ensemble library you would like to embed into your Moodle page.
