What I Do:

I provide support for students and faculty at Reed who are working with quantitative data. My work with faculty takes a number of forms: working together to design course activities and assignments, leading workshops and guest lectures, and supporting class/research projects.

I also provide support to students who are working with data for independent projects, including thesis, and research. This includes data wrangling (think: wrestling with spreadsheets), data analysis, and data visualization; most of this work is done in R/RStudio and Stata.

As Reed’s point person for spatial work, I also support mapping and spatial analysis (GIS) projects for faculty and students. All of the above data work is carried out in collaboration with the Data@Reed team, a partnership across academic support, the library, and CIS.

I supervise a small group of student workers who assist in these analytical adventures in the mLab (ETC 226), which our department manages. I also work with the rest of ITS to provide general instructional technology support for faculty, and support the director of ITS in departmental matters.
