Course Description

431 Contemporary Topics: Conservation Genetics

Half-unit course for one semester.  We will be surveying issues of current controversy and active research in conservation biology, highlighting places where molecular genetic techniques and data are providing new insights for classical problems in the management and conservation of rare and threatened species.

Meeting time:

Tuesday, 6:10 - 8 PM in B200A

Prerequisites:

Bio 101/102; two upper-level lecture-laboratory courses, and Junior or Senior class standing.

Ecology (Bio 301), Restoration Ecology (Bio 308), Vascular Plant Diversity (Bio 332), and/or one of the genetics courses (BIO 352, 356 or 363) will provide helpful background.
