Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program

Graduating senior religion major Pema McLaughlin will spend the summer studying in Dalian China.  Pema is applying for graduate school in the fall with the intention of studying early Chinese Buddhism. Pema fell in love with the Chinese classics as a freshman and was excited to be able to spend the last semester reading parts of those texts in the original for the first time.   Pema plans to expand verbal skills and creativity with the language in an effort to bring verbal proficiency to the study of China and in all its variety and vibrancy.
