2018 Fellowships and Awards Results

Congratulations to Reed student recipients of national award competitions!

Reed College congratulates  Ashlee Fox '19 who has been selected as a Truman Scholar for her plans to work with food access and food insecurity issues in Indian country.  

Reed also celebrates:   Dylan Holmes '17 who was offered a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to Morocco; Brandon Marrow '18 who has been selected as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant to Russia; Aja Procita '18 who has been selected as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant to Latvia; Timmy Straw '18 who has been selected as a Fulbright Fellow to Russia where she will explore "Postmemory and contemporary poetry in Moscow;" Ophelia Vedder '18 who has been selected as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant to Spain; and Genevieve Ward '15 who has been selected as Fulbrighter to Bulgaria to research "Ottoman Architectural Legacies in Bulgarian Historiography." 

Reed College's own Sperling Studentship has been awarded to Noah Shofer '18 to pursue an MPhil in Physics at King's College, Cambridge University where he hopes to work with the Atomic, Mesoscopic, and Optical Physics group.  Congratulations Noah!

Several Reed alumni were successful as Fellows and Honorable Mentions in the National Science Foundation's Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSFGRFP) this year.  Well done Awardees: Allison Morgan '14 (UC Boulder); Meghan O'Connell '16 (University of Chicago); and Honorable Mentions: Kathryn Linthicum '14 (Florida State University) and Mick Song '15 (UC Berkeley) !

Additionally, Reed is proud of Nate MacFadden '19 for his designation as an Honorable Mention for the Goldwater Scholarship for his interest in applied physics research into material science relating to renewable energy.

Reed is additionally delighted to announce Shisham Adhikari '21's selection for the 2018 Davis Projects for Peace for her proposed project to support women's mental health in post-disaster settings in Nepal, as well as Aidan Malanowski '20's selection for a fully-funded summer internship at the National Institute of Standards in Technology.
