Mechanical Reproduction
You will be trained in a variety of mold-making techniques and exposed to casting materials and methods. The objective of this assignment is to create one chess piece. You will be assigned your piece in class via chance operations. If you fabricate it, you will first make the piece out of clay. The piece must have symbolic reference to the position the piece is in the game. For example, what is a horse? A king? Can you work with the idea ironically, symbolically or literally?
