Paideia

Paideia 2022 will take place from Saturday, January 15 to Sunday, January 23, 2022!

The Greek word Paideia (Παιδεία) is difficult to translate, but denotes education in its broadest sense. For the ancient Greeks, this included philosophy, poetry, mathematics, physics, rhetoric, gymnastics, music, and medicine. At Reed, Paideia is a weeklong festival that takes place every January where students become teachers! The festival features hundreds of hands-on workshops led by students, alumni, staff, and professors and are open to the entire Reed community. Length and format are up to you.

We invite students, faculty, staff, and alumni to submit an application to teach a class during Paideia. Classes can be on any topic you can imagine.  The more variety the better. They can be fun, silly, serious, informative, and more. We are able to fund many classes, so test it out! What you teach is totally up to you, it can be anything from memes to herbalism to a philosophic discussion on the meaning of life. The sky is your limit! Apply to teach a class for Paideia 2022! Applications open up Monday, November 29 at 9am! Deadline for submissions is Friday, December 10 at 11:59pm.

Thank you!
