Reed Swap Party!

It’s move out time, which means it’s also time for spring cleaning! Looking to get rid of some gently used items? Hoping to pick up some cool items for next year? Join the Basic Needs InitiativeGreenboardOffice for Student EngagementResidence Life, and SEEDS at the Reed Swap! We are accepting anything that is gently used or in new condition and recently cleaned.

If you have unopened and unexpired food, textbooks, and school supplies, those can be brought to the Reed College Pantry. Times and location on their website.

Getting items to the swap:

Volunteers will be available to collect your items on the GCC Patio from 11:30 - 1:30 on April 6th & 7th!

Bins have been placed in all Residence Halls for you to drop off Swap and Pantry items! If you need help locating the bins please contact your HA directly. You are also welcome to bring your items directly to the Swap at the times listed below.

If you have large furniture items (i.e. mini fridges) you need help transporting to the Swap, please fill out this form

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide bags or handtrucks for this event.

Volunteers needed!

Please view and fill out this sign-up form if you are interested in volunteering anytime from April 7th-13th!

The success of this mutual aid effort requires a lot of help, especially in COVID times when Reed's usual accessibility to the community is limited, so we greatly appreciate Reed students and staff for getting involved.

What happens to leftover items?

We are happy to announce that any items that don’t get claimed at the swap will be donated to community partners including Rahab’s Sisters, an organization that creates community through radical hospitality with those marginalized by poverty, houselessness, sex work, violence and substance use. We thank you in advance for your support of fellow Reedies and Portland community members. More information on community partners to come!

If you need an accommodation to participate in this event, please email Miranda James.
