Reed Union announcement
Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond to the recent Reed Union survey. The Reed Union committee has reviewed the feedback and suggestions, and there was an overwhelming desire for discussion on the topics of institutional racism and racial justice.
To that end, the committee is pleased to announce that the topic of the next Reed Union will be “Reimagining BIPOC Futures at Predominantly White Institutions.” We’ll hear from Portland community leaders working in this area of social justice, and there will be ample opportunity for Reed community discussion and participation.
Due to the upheaval caused by the recent ice storm and the fast approaching end-of-semester crunch, the Reed Union will be held in the fall of 2021. We are hopeful that it can be held in person at that time. If that is not possible, it will happen as a virtual event. Stay tuned for more information in the coming months.
Questions may be directed to Robin Tovey, communications manager. Announcements do not represent the views of Reed College.
