Reed’s Response to Title IX Amendments (RESCHEDULED to 6/30)
RESCHEDULED to Tuesday, June 30, from 10–11 a.m. (PDT)
As many of you know, the Office for Civil Rights of the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) has issued amendments to Title IX. The date on which Reed must be in compliance with these regulations is August 14, 2020, including all updates to related college policies and procedures.
We affirm our commitment to equity and fairness in all of our investigative and judicial processes for both those reporting sexual harassment and those accused of it. Supportive measures will continue to be available for those who are involved.
To ensure that our campus policies and processes comply with Title IX, the Clery Act, and Oregon laws, we have assembled a working group of students, staff, and faculty to carefully review the amendments and develop recommendations for changes to campus policies and processes.
As we engage in this work, we reaffirm our committment to creating and sustaining a community in which all members can participate free from discrimination on the basis of sex, gender, and gender identity. We reaffirm our commitment to preventing sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking, and to responding to reports in a timely, impartial, and equitable manner. We know that the Reed community joins us in our commitment to the values of honor and mutual respect that define all our interactions.
The working group members are:
Santi Alston, Co-Chair
