Recipients of the 2020 Frederic Rothchild Summer Stipend for Music Study
Diana Wang will study with Professor Scott Marcus, the head of the ethnomusicology program at UC Santa Barbara, to learn to play the ney, an end-blown oblique flute that has a prominent role in Middle Eastern music.
Leila Sinclair will study improvisation for the oboe with Mitch Iimori, a Portland-based professional oboist.
Xinlong Du will study Piano etudes with Portland based pianist Deborah Cleaver to develop a stronger piano technique.
Sebastian Bishop will take an audio programming class at Portland Community College taught by electronic/ambient artist Crystal Cortez.
