Commencement 2019

Commencment is almost here! Here are the highlights to know about:

President’s Reception: Saturday, May 18, 4 p.m. -5:30 p.m., GCC Quad. Graduates and their families are invited to this reception.

Commencement Breakfast: Monday, May 20, 8:30–10:30 a.m., Commons. All are welcome. Cash, credit and board points are accepted, no tickets required.

Commencement Ceremony: Monday, May 20, 11 a.m., Tent in front of Eliot Hall (no tickets required).

All-Campus Commencement Reception: Monday, May 20, immediately after the ceremony, GCC Quad (no tickets required).

Parking, pets, and hospitality

Parents, friends, and family members will be here beginning this weekend to celebrate with the class of 2019. We ask you to help welcome our guests to campus.

Parking

Help leave parking spaces for those attending Commencement. If possible, please try to bike, walk, ride the bus, get a ride, or Uber to campus on Monday, May 20. If you must drive, please park in the parking lot on the northeast corner of SE 28th & Steele, or at the Reedwood Friends Church parking lot. Shuttle service will run from parking lots to Eliot circle, 8 a.m.–11 a.m., 1–2:30 p.m., and 4:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m. on Monday. Great raffle prizes are available for all who ride the bus, walk, bike, or find a ride! CEP will email staff and faculty the day after commencement, and invite you to enter in the drawing.

Dogs on a leash

Please remember to keep your dog on a leash on Commencement day, as we will have nearly 3,000 guests on campus.

Commencement seating

If you attend the Commencement ceremony, please leave the best seats for graduates’ friends and family.

Post-Commencement reception

Please join us for the reception following the ceremony in the GCC quad. The reception will begin when the first graduate toasts their champagne. Come celebrate with the class of 2019!
