Reed Running News

Runners of the world (or, at least, Reed College) unite! We have two great Reed running events in the near future. As you may have read in last week's At Reed, the Reed College 5K is coming up on September 20, kicking off Community Day. Register at http://reasontorun.com/races/reed.html and claim that free t-shirt and pancake breakfast (oh yeah, and you'll get to run, too).

In addition, the college just decided to support Reedies who want to run the Portland Marathon on October 5. Not only will you be able to register at subsidized rates but, thanks to Reed's sponsorship, we also have open spots for you in the half marathon, which filled up and closed for the general public more than two months ago. And if all that is not enough, you will get a free Reed running t-shirt with the cool running Griffin on the front. Also, if you have already registered, please let us know, too, as we may be able to refund some of your registration fee (students will get first priority) and sign you up for one of those t-shirts.

We will also need some volunteers to help make this happen. Please indicate your interest via the web form below and let us what size shirt you would like (we will do sweatshirts for our volunteers!).

We are still working out some of the details. In order to get the ball rolling and to help us with the planning and funding of this event, we need you to pre-register at http://www.reed.edu/marathon/index.php.

More information will follow soon. For now, if you have questions, please contact Ueli Stadler in the bookstore at ustadler@reed.edu.
