Portland Youth Philharmonic Concert: Celebration of Life

This memorial concert honors Jacob Avshalomov, Reed class of ’43 and LHD ’73 and 40-year conductor of the Portland Youth Philharmonic, who died in April. The Portland Youth Philharmonic performs compositions by Jacob, his father, Aaron Avshalomov, and his son David Avshalomov, in addition to Ralph Vaughan-Williams’ Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis. David Avshalomov and David Hattner conduct and Jacob’s son Daniel Avshalomov is principal violist.
