Join us October 20-22 for Reed's annual Volunteer Weekend!
The Forum for Advancing Reed will look a bit different this year! Instead of introducing new volunteers to all the opportunities to get involved, we are focusing on current volunteers and volunteer initiatives. Don't miss your chance to join leaders from across initiatives, attend a faculty lecture, discuss opportunities for strategic collaboration, and plan for the upcoming year.
Below you can review the weekend schedule. You can find even more detailed information in this preview of the FAR packet. This includes more information about the brainstorming session, as well as some campus resources for the weekend (WiFi, parking, etc.), and information about Reed’s various alumni volunteer committees.
Lecture: Tom Landvatter, Associate Professor of Greek, Latin, and Ancient Mediterranean Studies and Humanities
Since 2018, Prof. Tom Landvatter has co-directed archaeological excavations at Pyla-Vigla, a fortified site near modern Larnaca, Cyprus that dates to the time of Alexander the Great (d. 323 BCE) and the wars of the diadochi ("successors") that followed him.
In this talk, Tom will discuss the findings from this project, where he has also brought Reed students each year to gain practical experience and training in archaeological field methods.

What is the Forum for Advancing Reed?
FAR 2021—Reed Remote
Due to the prevalence of the Delta variant amid the ongoing pandemic, the Forum for Advancing Reed (originally scheduled for October 22–24, 2021) was not hosted in person. We updated programming for the weekend to be more inline with our virtual engagement series, Reed Remote.
