Workshop Hotel

The workshop will be held at the Westin Pasadena in Pasadena California. Two nights lodging will be provided for all workshop participants. Call 626-792-2727 to make your reservation, and mention "The WISP Conference - Occidental College." You will need to give a credit card to cover all expenses beyond the room fee. The hotel registration deadline is April 16, 2004.

Note about parking at the Westin
There is valet parking at the front door of the Westin, however self parking is available – ask about it at the valet station.

Travel by Air

The closest airport to Pasadena is Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena (BUR).

It takes about 20 - 30 minutes to drive from the Burbank airport to the hotel. Take I-5 South to 134 East. 134 East turns into 210 East. Exit from I-210 at Fair Oaks – it’s the first exit! and take first right onto Fair Oaks. Turn left on Walnut then right on Los Robles and the hotel is on the right.

Many of you will find it more convenient to come into Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). There are several shuttle services available there – pre-booking with SuperShuttle or one of the other services may save a bit, but you’ll end up waiting for the next one in any case.  Figure to pay around $30 each way.  Taxicabs are more.  Shutlles and taxis will take between 40 minutes and 1.5 hours depending on traffic.

Angelenos never do it, but you can actually get to Pasadena by light rail (see Metro rail system map).  Several connections (and a free shuttle bus) are required, but it seems ecologically correct somehow.  It will take more than an hour.  Get off the Gold Line at the Memorial Park station, leaving a 4 block walk the hotel at the intersection of Walnut and Los Robles.

Travel by Car

From North
Take 101 South to 134 East. 134 East turns into Interstate 210. Exit from I-210 at Fair Oaks and turn right on Fair Oaks. Turn left on Walnut then right on Los Robles and the hotel is on the right.

From South
Take Interstate 405 North to Interstate 10 East to 110 North. 110 turns into Arroyo Parkway to Colorado Boulevard. Turn right on Colorado Boulevard, left on Los Robles and the hotel is on the left.

From East
Take I-10 West to Interstate 605 North to 210 West. Exit 210 at Lake Avenue and turn left. Turn right on Walnut, left on Los Robles and the hotel is on the right.

From West
Take Interstate 10 to 110 North. 110 turns into Arroyo Parkway to Colorado Boulevard. Turn right on Colorado Boulevard, left on Los Robles and the hotel is on the left.
