Map 32

The area around
the Woodstock dorms is full of trees, but the sidewalks and roads make
good landmarks and it's easy to find what you're looking for.
Two maples in
this area are particularly noteworthy. Both the hedge maple (#29) and
the David's maple (#32) are the only examples of their species on the
campus. David's maple, which comes from central China, is particulary
unusual because it looks more like an elm or an alder than a maple.
The large black
oak (#10) has been designated a Portland Heritage Tree.
Tree #1 is the
only Persian parrotia on campus. It was planted as a memorial to a remarkably
outgoing dog named "Buster" who worked as the Official Greeter
for Reed's Computing & Information Services department for his entire
life, from 1993 to 2002.
